Jeff Rulifson Elected to SRI Alumni Hall of Fame
Congratulations Jeff!
November 6, 2006 -The SRI Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes "Exceptional contributions to the enduring
success of SRI" by researchers who clearly demonstrate qualities of leadership, vision and creativity.
"In recognition of the innovative software development work done at SRI which
created a highly responsive, computer-mediated, collaborative work environment
that defined for the first time much of what we think of as computing today",
Jeff Rulifson has been elected to the SRI Alumni Hall of Fame.
The collaborative system was demonstrated live at the 1968 Fall Joint Computer
Conference in San Francisco, and showed for the first time software- enabled
features that included on-line file creation and editing, the mouse, remote on-line
audio and video conferencing, window formation and hypertext linking. In
recognition of this watershed moment in the history of computing, Jeff,
Bill English and DougEngelbart were honored with a special ACM award in 1990.
Jeff's induction into the SRI Hall of Fame took place at this year's SRI Alumni
Reunion on 12 October 2006.
