Oracle (formerly Sun) has collaborated with Stanford’s PPL for several years. Currently we are working on:
- Using a domain-specific approach to solving the heterogeneous parallel programming problem. Leveraging DSLs like SQL and MATLAB to implicitly extract parallelism from user programs and target these programs automatically to different parallel architectures including GPUs.
- Compilers and domain-specific languages for large graph processing of social graphs as well as graphs representing enterprise related concepts.
- Efficient FPGA implementation of hardware architecture to support large database join operations.
Kunle Olukotun, Stanford Professor says….”Oracle Labs was a founding member of the PPL and continues to be a strong supporter of our research collaboration. This collaboration is driving our research in new parallel programming environments and new parallel hardware architectures that is focused on improving programmer productivity and performance/watt for machine learning and big data analysis applications.” |
