Audio Samples for Audio Quality paper

Audio samples

These recordings accompany the Collaborative Environments group's paper entitled Audio Conferencing: Are Two Ears Better Than One? presented at the CSCW 2006 conference on computer-supported collaborative work. They provide examples of the audio recordings that were played for participants in the audio assessment described in the paper. The files are in .au format, and should be playable from most browsers. If necessary, you may need to obtain the free Quicktime download from Apple's website. To hear a sample, click its entry in the table.

Before listening to the samples, you should have a stereo headset connected to your computer. External stereo speakers will give you a feel for the audio, but will not provide the same quality experienced by the subjects.

To test your stereo headset, use the Play button on the left. When you click it, an audio player should appear in the pane below, where you can listen to the sample. Make sure you can hear distinct audio in each ear.
