Peter Hofer is a researcher at Oracle Labs Austria. He works on GraalVM Native Image, a virtual machine with fast startup and small footprint for ahead-of-time compiled Java code. His recent work includes continuations and virtual threads, fast object persistence, isolated execution, and memory management and locking improvements.

For his Ph.D., Peter researched the efficient and effective profiling of method calls and lock contention on the Java VM level.
