Christian Wirth is a Research Director for Oracle Labs. He is working at the Oracle Labs office in Linz, Austria, at Johannes Kepler University.

Since August 2022 he has been managing the GraalVM Native Image and Compiler team. We are making sure that GraalVM is the most efficient way to execute our customer's Java applications, in the cloud and on premise. We improve the performance in AOT and JIT mode, we enhance the user experience when using Native Image or related tooling, and we make sure the latest versions of Java are available.

Previously, Christian was managing the JavaScript/Node.js ("Graal.js"), Ruby ("TruffleRuby"), and RegularExpressions ("TRegex") teams. 

He is also managing several external research collaborations, e.g. with Johannes Kepler University (JKU), Linz, Austria; University of Belgrade; Charles University Prague; and others.

Christian received a PhD degree from the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, in 2013.
