Summary

XMODEL is a new circuit simulation technology developed at SNU by Professor Kim’s research group. It offers rapid and accurate analog circuit simulation. By storing s-parameter models of the structures being simulated, XMODEL should come close to the fidelity of “SPICE”-like circuit simulators, but with the speed of event-driven tools like “Verilog.” Ji-eun’s thesis focus is to develop digital-to-analog converters using XMODEL, and to integrate statistical analysis tools into XMODEL. We have a very special interest in this work, and we believe that it has significant utility not only in our photonics circuit designs, but also in the Microelectronic Groups’ serial link design.
