Summary

Research to enable Oracle to use asynchronous designs in our hardware research and product designs where it can provide increased performance, improved reliability, or decreased power. Portland State University's Asynchronous Research Center (PSU ARC) has produced the ARCWelder CAD tool for developing asynchronous logic designs. The PSU ARC has also produced designs for power gating asynchronous circuits, and for a complete asynchronous processor design. The methodologies and tools from PSU ARC have applicability for IC design where clock domain crossings, chip I/O, or specialized functional circuits needing high speed and low power.
