Project Overview
The Fast Loader project aims to develop hardware offload engines to accelerate existing software for high value applications, such as relational and NOSQL databases, main memory algorithms, and big-data applications. The aim is to improve cluster performance, application scaling and reduce system power or IO needs. This is achieved using reconfigurable computing built from FPGAs and many-core processors. Our approach is based on the development of an innovative language and design flow for hardware and software co-design, whose malleability allows functions to be traded off between hardware and software, and for hardware development to deliver under more aggresive time to market schedules.
