Jean-Baptiste Tristan - Principal Member of Technical Staff

Jean-Baptiste ( is a member of the Programming Language Research Group and the Machine Learning group in Burlington, Massachusetts, USA. He is interested in parallel and distributed computing, scalable machine learning, probabilistic modeling and inference, and language and compiler design for parallel architectures. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University, received a Ph.D. in computer science from university Denis Diderot (Paris 7) and a masters degree in computer science from the Ecole Normale Superieure of Paris. He was one of the recipient of the "La Recherche" award in computer science for his work on the Compcert compiler. He was invited at the IFIP working group on Functional Programming, and the IFIP working group on language design. He served on the External Reviewing Committee of POPL 2012, the program committee of the 4th Coq workshop, and on the program committee of PPOPP 2015. He was a reviewer for several conferences (PPDP, PPOPP, POPL, PLDI, DISC, CAV) and journals (ACM Transactions on Programming Languages, Software Practice & Experience, Higher-Order and Symbolic Computation, ACM Transactions and Architecture and Code Optimization). He served twice as an NSF panelist.
